Job 1: Seeking a Legislative Analyst

DESCRIPTION:

This position is a paid internship/part-time employment opportunity for the right candidate. The position will require approximately 10 hours a week. The position’s primary function is to act as the Legislative Analyst for specific clients. Stipend and workload will be assessed upon discussion with the candidate.

This position is responsible for reviewing legislative bills and client initiatives, attending hearings and meetings as directed that impact specific clients, and serving as a liaison between the Executive Team and clients.

This work includes: formulating an assessment of the bill or policies, writing impact statements, writing fiscal notes, drafting testimony, participating in weekly conference calls, maintaining legislative and grant databases, and attending legislative hearings and meetings. This position must be aware of changes in State and federal laws that affect the client, with guidance.

This position will also assist the Partner with assisting with developing, tracking and reporting goals and objectives and their performance measures; assist in planning efforts and assist with establishing, maintaining, and monitoring executive performance measurements.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Knowledge of the State legislative process or a strong willingness to learn.
Experience writing correspondence sufficient for all levels of the organization. Ability to perform complex analysis and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel to meetings using personal transportation (some mileage reimbursement).

Job 2: Seeking a Session Administrative Assistant

DESCRIPTION:

This position is a paid part-time employment opportunity for the Maryland legislative session (mid-January through mid-April). The position’s primary function is to act as an administrative assistant who reports to the Partner. Pay and hours will be assessed upon discussion with the candidate.

This position is responsible for reviewing legislative bills and client initiatives, attending hearings and meetings as directed that impact specific clients, and serving as a liaison between the Executive Team and clients. This position will also assist the Partner with assisting with client communications and events.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Knowledge of the State legislative process or a strong willingness to learn.
Experience writing correspondence sufficient for all levels of the organization.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work a traditional schedule in downtown Annapolis (parking is provided).
